High-Frequency 600mA DC-DC Buck Converter from Diodes Incorporated Achieves High Efficiency Over Full Load Range

PLANO, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 27, 2016 — Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, today introduced the AP3405. This DC-DC buck converter delivers high efficiency under light and heavy loads and targets mobile phones, wearable devices and similar battery-powered applications. Operating with a fixed switching frequency of 2MHz reduces the size of external components, while a small U-DFN2020-8 package also saves board area.

The AP3405 current mode, PWM synchronous, step-down converter operates with a 2.3V to 5.5V VIN range and supplies an output from 0.7V to 5.5V, accurate to ±1.5%, up to 600mA. A low 32μA quiescent current draw helps extend battery life and internal MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) enable high efficiency under all load conditions.

Comprehensive protection features built into the AP3405 protect both the end system and the device itself. These include hiccup mode short-circuit protection (SCP), under-voltage lock-out (UVLO), over-temperature protection (OTP) and over-current protection (OCP).

The AP3405 is in the space-saving U-DFN2020-8 package. Further information is available at www.diodes.com.
