Jun 26, 2015 -- During Building Innovation 2016: The National Institute of Building Sciences Fourth Annual Conference & Expo, January 11-15, 2016, in Washington, D.C., the Institute will engage the entire building community in developing solutions for Achieving a Resilient Future. Through two collaborative tracks, the Conference will examine efforts underway within multiple segments of the industry to facilitate discussions on different facets of the built environment and develop coordinated strategies for resiliency. The collaborative tracks will give Conference attendees a broader view of the Institute’s various activities and the roles multiple industry disciplines play in contributing to a resilient future for the building industry and the communities it serves. Each track will feature two stand-alone symposia over the course of two days that will build towards a common approach to achieving resilience. During each symposium, industry leaders and representatives of the Institute’s Councils and Committees will highlight the specific aspects of their work that relate to the Conference theme. The symposia presented on the second day of each track will build on the concepts of the first and work to build partnerships across the building community and foster communication among the attendees. Discussions and panels will promote the coordination of efforts across Councils and Committees, and across industry silos, with the goal of shifting paradigms to address the serious challenge of improving resilience in a world of increasing natural and man-caused threats. Track 1: Guidance and Groundwork – People, Processes, Tools and Technologies to Reach Resilience
Track 2: Preparation and Performance – Realizing Resilience through Incentives
In addition to these featured symposia, Building Innovation 2016, sponsored by the International Code Council, offers other credit-building educational sessions, including a Plenary Symposium for the entire building community, as well as the opportunity to sit in on working Council and Committee meetings and witness the Institute in action.
