Satellite Imagery Tasking Now Available via SpyMeSat Mobile App

GREENBELT, MD, June 19, 2015 -- With yet another first-of-its-kind capability, Orbit Logic announced today that SpyMeSat mobile app version 3.0 is now available on iTunes and Google Play.  This latest version of SpyMeSat allows smart phone users to task a high resolution imaging satellite to take a picture of a user-specified location.

SpyMeSat provides real-time imaging satellite awareness, on-demand access to archive satellite imagery, and now the ability to request new tasking directly from a mobile device. The mobile app already included the ability to preview and purchase the most recent, highest resolution commercial satellite archive imagery of any location through an easy and affordable in-app purchase process. The entire process of preview, select, purchase and delivery of archived imagery can be completed in seconds, delivering satellite imagery for any location on demand. And with “the World’s Longest Selfie Stick” new tasking feature, any mobile user can now to task a satellite to take a new picture if archive imagery does not meet their need. The user specifies the location, size, and time frame and receives tasking status updates for tasking request acceptance, exact imaging time, imagery processing, and delivery status.

“We are changing the game for satellite imagery.” said Alex Herz, president of Orbit Logic, developers of the SpyMeSat app, “We are making archive imagery and new tasking accessible, responsive and affordable for everyone.”

Prices for new tasking start at $500 – making SpyMeSat the most affordable option for high resolution satellite imagery collection.  Users can choose from image sizes ranging from 2km x 2km to 7km x 7km.  Imagery orders are fulfilled by providing customers with links to download the high resolution JPEG and full resolution GEOTIFF images and supporting data generated by the satellite and subsequent ground processing in response to SpyMeSat tasking requests.

Orbit Logic has signed an agreement with ImageSat International to make EROS-B the first satellite available for SpyMeSat tasking over western Europe, North America, and the region around Australia and New Zealand.  EROS-B has a 70cm black & white resolution at nadir, making it one of a small number of sub-meter resolution commercial imaging satellites in the world.
