Fusion Formatics Adds the Mark One Composite 3D Printer(TM) to Its Product Line

LONG BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - May 19, 2015) - Fusion Formatics Corporation announced today that it will now be marketing in North America the one-of-a-kind Mark One Composite 3D Printer™ by MarkForged, the world's first 3D printer capable of printing nylon, carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass.

Frank Speck, President of Fusion Formatics, said, "We are excited about our relationship with MarkForged and the possibilities opened up by the world's first 3D printer to print in carbon fiber. We use the Mark One in our own engineering and fabrication business and can say unequivocally that this technological marvel brings capabilities that no other desktop printer can match -- and, I might add, at an affordable price."

MarkForged chose Fusion Formatics as a distributor because of its strength in sales and marketing, advanced engineering skills and symbiotic product lines.

"We needed an organization on the West Coast that could take our one-of-a-kind 3D printer and deliver it into the hands of engineers and designers that are at the forefront of additive manufacturing hardware, software and engineering. Fusion Formatics is the organization that can do it and we look forward to a long and mutually successful partnership," stated Greg Mark, Founder and CEO, MarkForged.

The Mark One Composite 3D Printer™ is the world's first 3D printer capable of printing nylon, carbon fiber, Kevlar, and fiberglass. Standing 14.2" high, 22.6" wide and 12.7" deep, the Mark One features a build volume of 320mm x 132mm x 160mm. Catering to engineers who are involved in designing real parts, tooling, and fixtures, the Mark One enables them to design a functional composite part and 3D print it right at their desks.

"We're making the most mechanically robust desktop 3D printer. No other printer can match the printing repeatability and print head accuracy at this price," said Greg Mark, Founder and CEO of MarkForged. "On top of that, we've commercialized the best method for printing usable parts with fiber reinforcement to enable faster design cycles and more meaningful prototype testing that will change the way products are developed for years to come."

The Mark One also allows you to easily insert a versatile array of items such as:

  • Electronics
  • Sensors
  • Ball bearings
  • Hard mounting points

You can do this from your desktop as well as stopping the print, removing the bed, adding components, and then clicking the bed back in with 10 micron repeatibility to continue printing in exactly the same position.

The 3D printer comes with MarkForged's cloud-enabled Eiger Software which affords users more efficient processing as well as easy access and a seamless avenue for collaboration. The Mark One connects via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or USB memory stick, and is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

Headquartered in Long Beach, CA, Fusion Formatics, www.fusionformatics.com, engages in CAD modeling and engineering for Additive Manufacturing processes, 3D printing in plastic, metal and composite, and reselling the software and printers. Its target markets are:

  • Machine tool and die manufacturers
  • Motor vehicle aftermarket and customization
  • Non-FDA medical and dental
  • Orthotics and prosthetics

The company's business model is to sell the products it uses in its own engineering and fabrication businesses, thereby enabling it to offer its clients expert post-sale support in use of those products. The products it sells in addition to MarkForged, are AirWolf 3D printers, Evolve and Inspire software by solidThinking, and Netfabb software.
