Apr 21, 2015 -- New London Architecture’s annual New London Awards, recognising the best architecture, planning and development in the capital, is fast approaching the submission deadline for entries on 24th April 2015. 
 
Two additional special accolades are being awarded in 2015 — NLA’s 10th anniversary year — alongside the main awards programme.
 
A new Mayoral Prize will be awarded in association with the Mayor of London to the best project that creatively contributes to the capital’s economy.
 
And in recognition of NLA’s 10th anniversary year, the Awards will also recognise London’s 10 Best Buildings of the Last 10 Years. An open vote over the month of June will give the public a chance to choose their favourite from the top 10, with events and visits to shortlisted buildings during the London Festival of Architecture.
 
The New London Awards, now in their fifth year, are the only London-wide awards for built and unbuilt projects across all sectors of the built environment. Shortlisted and winning projects are celebrated for their contribution to London’s urban environment and local community through design excellence, respect for context, and innovative and efficient use of resources.
 
The winning schemes, from community-led projects to large developments, are chosen by an international panel of architecture and urban design and planning experts, supported by NLA’s group of London expert assessors.
 
The New London Awards’ 14 categories span a wide range of projects from Conservation & Retrofit; to Education; Health & Care; Homes; Housing; Masterplans & Area Strategies; Mixed-Use; Office Buildings; Office Interiors; Public Buildings; Public Spaces; Retail; The Temporary; and Transport & Infrastructure.
 
In 2014, the New London Awards celebrated buildings including London 2012 legacy projects The Ludwig Guttman Health and Wellbeing Centre (Penoyre & Prasad), and the London Aquatics Centre (Zaha Hadid); as well as new public space Tumbling Bay Play and Timber Lodge (Erect Architecture).
 
The New London Awards 2015 winners will be announced at NLA’s Annual Lunch at The Guildhall, on Tuesday 7 July, to an audience of 700 leading professionals and decision-makers from London’s built environment community.
 
Shorlisted entries will form the basis of an exhibition at the NLA Galleries at The Building Centre, London WC1, and will feature in a special publication.
 
Deadline for submissions: Friday 24 April 2015, 5pm

Unbuilt projects can be at any stage of design or construction, whether at concept-stage or currently on site, while built projects should have been completed within the last two years.

RETAIL – Retail developments, high street strategies, and innovative retail fit-outs; well-designed projects at any scale that enhance London’s shopping experience.
 
THE TEMPORARY – Meanwhile uses, temporary installations and community initiatives aimed at enlivening spaces, places and streets across the capital over a short-term period.
 
TRANSPORT & INFRASTRUCTURE – Transport projects and related architecture that improve the experience of moving around the city and add to the quality of the environment; and infrastructure projects – water, waste, energy – that help London work more efficiently and sustainably.
