1x1 Stickers Allow Users To Create and Display Custom Pixel Art Outside Of A Computer Screen

Stickers are self-adhesive and can be displayed virtually anywhere

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 13, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- 1x1 stickers bring virtual art to life, allowing people to create pixel art outside of their computer screens with a collection of small stickers. In order to improve on the current prototype and fund the full-scale manufacturing process to print the stickers, 1x1 founder Jace Sangco has recently launched a 30-day crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter with a funding goal set at $50,000.

There are 14,800 individual pixel stickers in one box of 1x1 stickers: 400 stickers in 36 unique colors and 800 black stickers. Each color that comes in the box was carefully chosen in order to allow for the most realistic pixel art possible. Because each individual sticker is self-adhesive, people can display their real-life pixel art on virtually any surface including glass, metal, aluminum and wood.

Computers and tablets can be personalized with custom pixel art, or people can think bigger and decorate their walls with a life-size creation - virtually any smooth surface is perfect for pixel art. 1x1 uses a glue adhesive that is durable and water-resistant, yet easily removed without damaging surfaces.

The idea for 1x1 stickers originally came from Sangco seeing people replicate pixel art using post-its. He knew there had to be a better way to take the art made on a computer and allow it to be created and displayed it in the real world.

"I saw what kind of great art people were creating on computers, in games like Minecraft," said Sangco. "I thought it was a shame that there was no way to share that art with the rest of the world. That's how the idea for the 1x1 stickers came to be - people can take designs and ideas that they would create online and use them to create art in the real world."

There are a wide variety of rewards available for Kickstarter backers, ranging from digital copies of the pixel art templates to a "Pixel Picasso Package" for a $500 pledge that includes a box of 1x1 stickers, a helpful application tool, a frame to display the pixel art in and the opportunity to have pixel artist Jessica Alves create a custom project. The crowdfunding campaign for 1x1 will be live until November 5.

After the Kickstarter campaign, Sangco has many ideas for expansions that include developing websites where people can share their pixel art templates for others to use and offering a bigger variety of colors and sticker sizes.
