Seminar programme announced for world’s foremost interior design festival
Speakers include Nigel Coates, Ben van Berkel of UNStudio and David Kohn
World Festival of Interiors at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore 1 - 3 October 2014
Sep 17, 2014 -- INSIDE - World Festival of Interiors (with Headline Partner Dulux) have today announced the final additions to an exciting array of international designers that will present a series of seminar sessions at this year’s festival, held at the world famous Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore.
Now in its third year, the festival is bigger than ever with more than 30 speakers who will explore a variety of topics centered around this year’s theme ‘Interiors, mind and body’. Speakers will share industry-leading insight on subjects such as our biological reaction to interior design, designing work spaces to relieve stress, and how an interior makes the jump from good design to iconic status.
Attracting more than 2,000 distinguished architects and designers from across the globe, the three-day event runs alongside the World Architecture Festival and puts Singapore at the centre of architecture and interior design discussion.
The festival will begin with a keynote speech on Wednesday 1 October by
Ben van Berkel of UNStudio, the international design studio behind projects such as Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart and the soon to be completed Canaletto building in London. Other keynote speakers will include Eric Carlson, Principal of Carbondale and Rossana Hu and Lyndon Neri of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office.
Renowned interior designer
Nigel Coates,
Simon Allford of AHMM – the architecture practice behind London’s new Google Headquarters - and
David Kohn, winner of last years World Interior of the Year award, are just some of the many speakers that will take to the stage during the event.
Mille Sylvest of 3XN Architects will discuss architectural psychology and
Clive Wilkinson will explore how to make the workspace a more dynamic environment.
The seminar programme will also look from a client perspective with Paul Matthew Wiste of Asia Pacific Jumeireh Management Services discussing how to meet the expectations of today’s client and Celia Geyer of Hilton Europe and North Africa will look at how designers and clients can work together to learn from customers.
The seminars and debates will run alongside live crit presentations by the 60 nominees competing across 12 categories to be named this year’s World Interior of the Year at the festival. Nominees include MAKE Architects, CRAB Studio and Woods Bagot.
Paul Finch, Programme Director of World Architectural Festival and INSIDE – World Festival of Interiors:
‘Designers of interiors, whether workplace, leisure or domestic, understand the importance of everything from space layouts to colour and furniture to make people feel comfortable, inspired or energized. INSIDE speakers have a wealth of experience to share about all these areas.’
Throughout the three days, 60 nominees from nine diverse categories, and 21 countries, will pitch against each other to win the World Interior of the Year award, announced on 3rd October at a gala awards ceremony.
