Architects Endorse Sen. Fischer’s Design-Build Legislation Streamlining Government Procurement Rules for Design/Construction Industry

Washington, D.C. – July 25, 2014 – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) today announced its support for S.2652, introduced Thursday by Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE), which would streamline the federal contracting process for designers and architects and result in government buildings that are the best value for  taxpayers.

Please attribute the following statement to AIA CEO Robert Ivy, FAIA:

“We thank Sen. Fischer for her vision in introducing Design-Build legislation in the Senate, and look forward to working with her to make this legislation a reality as soon as possible.

“Passing design-build reform would enable the government to get the most out of taxpayer dollars by letting architects and designers deliver projects that are safe and secure - while saving money for both the federal government and taxpayers.

“We are excited to see contracting reform gaining momentum on Capitol Hill and are renewing our pledge to work to make this bill law.”
