Sea level rise assessments revolutionised with SimCLIM for ArcGIS/Marine and new SLR app

CLIMsystems is proud to announce the release of a new data set for its SimCLIM for ArcGIS/Marine add-in for ArcGIS Desktop. To follow on the successful launch of the SimCLIM for ArcGIS/Climate add-in 2012 CLIMsystems released SimCLIM for ArcGIS/Marine in 2013. After extensive testing and end user review the Marine add-in has been expanded and re-released with our world class sea level rise data packaged included. The new release coincides with our attendance at the Esri UC 2014. The new sea level rise capability brings the latest CMIP5 sea level rise data to Esri user’s fingertips. It also has ground-breaking monthly patterns that better capture the possible extent of sea level rise around the globe. A free trials can be set up quickly. User manuals are available on-line.

The SimCLIM for ArcGIS Marine add-in still includes the nine key ocean variables: sea surface temperature, pH, primary production, total alkalinity and dissolved oxygen, nitrate, phosphate, iron and silicate. The add-in also includes the capacity for ensemble application and the application of the 2.6, 4.5, 6.0, and 8.5 representative concentration pathways (RCPs). The tool and datasets represent a revolution in the provision of climate change marine data for a range of end users.

The tool is also supported by a lite version that can run on a smart phone, android of iOS device as well as most web browsers. The web app includes vertical land movement but is limited to one RCP. The app includes access to extensive documentation on the data used in its development. It has been well received as Donovan Burton of Climate Planning PTY in Australia noted “The app clearly illustrates just how big the sea level rise challenge is and hopefully will encourage policy makers to take a detailed assessment for their region.” The SimCLIM for ArcGIS/Marine tool with the new sea level rise functionality is the answer for those that need the latest range of scenarios for sea level rise at their location.

CLIMsystems, established in 2003, has an impressive international footprint delivering innovative climate modeling tools backed by high quality data processing capabilities. The science underpinning the models is supported by a prestigious scientific advisory panel of preeminent climate change scholars. The extensive network of Associates located around the world and affiliated with a range of stakeholder groups further strengthens the commitment and capacity for CLIMsystems to deliver high quality products and services for climate adaptation and risk assessment.
