Jul 8, 2014 -- GNSS positioning specialist Veripos confirms its participation in the successful consortium delivering the AALECS (Authentic and Accurate Location Experimentation with the Commercial Service) project launched by the European Commission in January. Other members of the consortium for the project, which is expected to last for around two and a half years, are GMV, CGI, Qascom, IFEN and KU Leuven.
The AALECS Project concerns building of a demonstration platform to connect to the European GNSS Service Centre and transmit real-time commercial service data via the Galileo satellites. The platform will be operational by 2015 and will demonstrate the true performance of future high-accuracy and authentication services of Galileo.
Walter Steedman, Veripos CEO, commented “We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project at the forefront of GNSS technology. This is our second venture with the European Commission and we look forward to continued collaboration with it and our technical partners in the future.”
Further details on the ALLECS project will be available in a paper to be presented at the upcoming ION GNSS+ 2014 conference in Tampa, Florida in September. An abstract for the presentation, “Preparing for the Galileo Commercial Service – Proof of Concept and Demonstrator Development”, can be viewed at http://www.ion.org/gnss/abstracts.cfm?paperID=1908.
