MAPPS to Provide Washington Policy Update at Location Intelligence Conference

May 15, 2014 -- MAPPS Executive Director John Palatiello will present an overview of legislative and regulatory issues impacting the geospatial community at the Location Intelligence Summit in Washington, D.C. on May 20. The theme for the summit is "Location Analytics and Visual Data Discovery: New Pathways to Business Intelligence".

MAPPS is the association of private sector geospatial firms. Mr. Palatiello will provide the perspective of a Washington, D.C. insider on legislation and policy that have the potential to impact location professionals in the geospatial community. MAPPS has been an advocate for the geospatial and location intelligence community, educating Congress and Federal agencies on the benefits geo-location data, products and services provide to the nation and how policies, such as those alleging to protect privacy, could negatively impact legitimate business practices and the citizenry of the United States. He will also discuss business opportunities that could be created through the legislative and Federal policy making process.

Kevin Promfret, Center for Spatial Law and Policy and Jules Polonestky, Future of Privacy Forum, will join Mr. Palatiello on the panel.

Directions Magazine, Oracle Corporation, HERE - a Nokia business, and The Eclipse Foundation are collaborating host the summit at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center May 19-21. For more information, visit  http://www.locationintelligence.net.
