Five New Smartphone Models Targeted for China and India Now Support MHL Based on MediaTek’s MT6592 and MT6595 Octa-Core Mobile Platforms

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 12, 2014Silicon Image (NASDAQ: SIMG), a leading provider of multimedia connectivity solutions and services, today announced that its reference design partnership with MediaTek has resulted in five new design wins for MHL®-enabled smartphone models from various China and international brands. These new models are the result of Silicon Image’s multi-year partnership with MediaTek, first announced at Mobile World Congress 2013 with the MT6589 quad-core smartphone SoC reference design using Silicon Image’s SiI8338 MHL transmitter. More recently at Mobile World Congress 2014, the MT6592 and MT6595 octa-core smartphone reference designs with the SiI8348 MHL transmitter were announced. With Silicon Image’s MHL transmitters featuring Media Data Tunneling (MDT) technology, device OEMs can deliver a premium smartphone experience that rivals today’s PCs, gaming consoles, and media entertainment devices.
