More and more councils turn to miso for help with INSPIRE

May 9, 2014 -- The race for INSPIRE compliancy is showing no signs of abating as more and more councils turn to miso for help.

Having made the first phase of INSPIRE a straightforward process with its DataPublisher solution, miso is now helping councils through the next phase. And as the largest UK service provider of Annex III data, miso is proving to be the number one choice when it comes to solving INSPIRE.

As part of the next phase, councils now need to ensure their published data sets utilise the INSPIRE schema. But with such complex and confusing specifications to follow, many are struggling to know where to even start. That’s why miso has created a solution that provides councils with the tools, knowledge and support they need to easily tackle it.

At the core of the solution is FME, the leading spatial data transformation software, and a FME workspace designed by miso to solve INSPIRE.  The solution also includes training on FME and regional workshops designed to guide GIS Managers through the INSPIRE process.

Despite Defra only recently releasing the funding, many councils have already signed up to this solution, including Rochdale, East Staffordshire and St Helen’s Metropolitan Borough Council.

Philip Burrell at Aylesbury Vale Council said: “It was an easy decision for us to go with miso. We worked out it was far cheaper to adopt this solution than to try and solve it in-house. I was also attracted by the fact that FME was included in the package.”

Mark Gilmore at South Ribble Borough Council said:  “What attracted me to this solution was the fact that not only do you get some great software but you also get the training needed to solve INSPIRE. I also liked the fact that collaboration was a key component of the solution. Having a network of contacts that I can call upon to get advice and ideas was hugely valuable to me.”
