Reference Design Brings Lantiq's Cost Effective Voice Line Solution to Customers of Intel's Gigabit-Speed DOCSIS 3.0 Platform

MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, April 28, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today announced that its DUSLIC™-xT voice line solution is now qualified for integration in cable gateways based on the Intel® PUMA™ 6 SoC. Specifically, the DUSLIC-xT driver has been integrated into the Intel Cable Software Development Kit (SDK) and Lantiq's Telephony Interface Daughter (TID) card reference design has been tested for compatibility with Puma 6 platforms.

Cable gateway suppliers can use the reference design or work directly with Lantiq to integrate the DUSLIC-xT into their system designs based on Intel Puma 6 an Intel® Atom™ based, DOCSIS 3.0 compliant SoC which can reach up to 1.2 Gbps downstream by bonding up to 24 DOCSIS channels and up to 240 Mbps upstream by bonding up to 8 DOCSIS return channels.

Best-in-Class Voice Solution

DUSLIC-xT is a single package CODEC/SLIC that provides all necessary functions for single or dual voice line termination at the customer premise. It is a cost and footprint optimized solution for implementation of the FXS (Foreign Exchange Subscriber) interface required to support analog fixed line phone service.

Features include:

• Leading Bill-of-Material (BOM) savings, with port costs below US 30 cents for dual-line termination, achieved in part by eliminating duplicated external components (i.e., power conversion and line protection).
• Lowest power consumption of available voice solutions, which helps manufacturers meet stringent Code of Conduct requirements, while using a smaller power supply to further improve system design and cost.
• Support for industry standard (GR-909) line test requirements and additional unique tests such as electronic ring detection to validate lines with no attached handset.
