Florida inventor's Washer Fan Overcomes Appliance Design Limitations

NAPLES, Fla., Feb. 20, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — The Washer Fan is the world's first & only "True Fix" for washer odor!™ Long-time inventor and holder of numerous successful patents, Troy Broitzman determined that front and top-load washers develop Smelly Washer Syndrome™ as a result of mold growth from four main factors: excessive detergent use, use of liquid fabric softener, a design limitation and high humidity in the washer's drum.

After dismantling his own washer to figure out why his freshly washed towels and other laundry had a sour smell when they got wet, Broitzman discovered mold in the internal drain hose and other internal parts of his washer. The mold was partially due to an inherent design limitation found in every style of washer, which allows standing water to accumulate in low-lying parts of the washer creating high humidity.

All washers – front load, top load, High Efficiency (HE) and traditional – have the same design limitations that eventually results in Smelly Washer Syndrome™, but Broitzman's Washer Fan is a simple and effective permanent solution that lowers the humidity inside the drum.

Broitzman says, "It pains me when I hear a consumer has replaced a mechanically-sound washer with a new front-load or top-load washer thinking that the new washer will not have the odor problem. This could not be further from the truth. Even brand new washers sold today can develop washer odor over time just like older washers of any style."

The small, quiet Washer Fan attaches to the washer and continuously circulates dry air from the room through the drum and other interior parts of the appliance, thus eliminating the odor that is caused by mold growth. The Washer Fan website also offers consumers additional free tips on how to properly use their washers to not make the mold problems worse.
