Old Dominion Freight Line Keeps Trucking with Esri Enterprise License Agreement

Motor Carrier Extends Its Use of the ArcGIS Platform for Three Years

Redlands, California January 13, 2014— Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc., a leading less-than-truckload carrier with over 14,000 employees, 6,000 tractors, and 24,000 trailers that's headquartered in Thomasville, North Carolina, has renewed its enterprise license agreement ( ELA) with Esri. With the new agreement, Old Dominion will continue to provide unlimited deployments of Esri's GIS and location analytics solutions to various users across its organization.

Location is a fundamental aspect of our operation," said Chris Young, vice president, Old Dominion Technology. Using Esri solutions, we are able to provide agile systems that help us achieve our mission of helping the world keep promises."

Included in the ELA is Esri's ArcGIS software, providing real-time analysis of drivers, routes, freight, and customers. Analysis and visualization can be shared with anyone, anytime, on virtually any desktop, server, online, and mobile platform. The ELA also provides Esri's StreetMap Premium for ArcGIS, and commercial street data with commercial truck restrictions from HERE, formerly known as NAVTEQ.

Old Dominion has really taken the vision of an integrated system to the next level," said Wolfgang Hall, logistics supply chain industry manager, Esri. "Using ArcGIS as the platform for information across its business, this is a company that will continue to push the envelope in customer efficiency and asset management."

Old Dominion's management team has made technology a focus of investment, which has helped the company achieve one of the highest on-time delivery records and one of the lowest claims ratios in the industry. Earlier this year, CIO magazine named Old Dominion as a recipient of the 2013 CIO 100 Award, marking the fifth consecutive year the company has been honored with this prestigious award.
