ROHM Semiconductor Introduces a Complete System PMIC for Intel Bay Trail I Platform

KYOTO, Japan and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 15, 2013 — (PRNewswire) —  ROHM Semiconductor (TSE : 6963) today introduced Power Management ICs (PMICs) designed for the Intel® AtomTM processor E3800 family.

ROHM PMICs utilize superior analog technology, ensuring outstanding performance in even the most demanding applications. Their highly integrated design eliminates the need for parts selection, complicated sequence/circuit design, and verification required by discrete configurations, reducing development time and costs while minimizing board area.

ROHM products deliver breakthrough performance levels and world-class power efficiency that extends to industrial thermal requirements. ROHM will continue to strengthen its portfolio by focusing on products optimized for the industrial and commercial equipment markets, which includes car infotainment, industrial robotics, and POS systems. In addition, ROHM has established a comprehensive customer support network that spans 10 design centers located across the globe.

From Intel:
"With the low-power features of the new Intel® AtomTM processor E3800 product family, solutions like ROHM's new PMICs provide better energy conversion efficiency that delivers a number of performance benefits for a variety of markets," said Sam Cravatta, Product Line Manager, Intel Intelligent Systems Group.

From ROHM:
"Our latest product, a PMIC designed for the next-generation Intel® AtomTM processor E3800 product family, has its roots in a chipset launched in September 2010 for the Intel® AtomTM processor E6xx series. This PMIC also supports tablet designs, and was introduced in March 2013. In the future, in addition to our lineup of power management ICs for Intel® AtomTM processor families, we are committed to strengthening our support for a wide range of markets, from consumer devices such as digital AV equipment to industrial applications," said Takahiro Ota, Director, ROHM LSI Corporate Strategy Headquarters.
