PI-CRYSTAL, a start-up electronics company established in 2013, is based on the results of organic electronics research at the Takeya Laboratory of Graduate School of Frontier Science in the University of Tokyo. The company specializes in the leading-edge organic semiconductor technology developed by the Takeya Lab, such as research and development, design, manufacturing, sales and consulting on organic semiconductor materials and devices.
PI-CRYSTAL has adopted Silvaco's Gateway schematic editor and SmartSpice analog circuit simulator for designing and developing their organic semiconductor devices. SmartSpice allows intuitive operation from Gateway and supports various SPICE models available in the semiconductor industry. For TFTs in particular, advanced technologies such as the RPI model are widely used. This and the UOTFT model, developed in collaboration with Cambridge Display Technology (CDT), were adopted early on and have produced many results with customers.
"To make progress in organic semiconductor research by the Takeya Lab and to contribute to the industry, we needed a design environment with proven performance and high reliability," said Seiichiro Yamaguchi, President and CEO of PI-CRYSTAL. "Silvaco's simulation environment satisfies our needs and we expect it to be perfect for future development."
"We are proud of the adoption of our simulation technology by PI-CRYSTAL and look forward to helping them make a leading contribution to the organic electronics industry," said David Halliday, CEO of Silvaco. "We will play a crucial role in further development and enable more technical innovations in the future."
