New Two-Lane SPDT Switches from Toshiba Support 3rd Generation PCI Express

Optimally Configured for All Arrangements of PCIe Slots, Connectors and Switches

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 10, 2013 — (PRNewswire) —   Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced the launch of the TC7PCI3412MT and TC7PCI3415MT, which are two-lane SPDT switches that support PCI Express (PCIe) Gen3 (8Gbps) signals.

The TC7PCI3412MT and TC7PCI3415MT reduce switch terminal capacitance to achieve high bandwidth characteristics of 10GHz at -3dB, making high-speed transmission with lower signal degradation capable.  The new switches are optimally configured for all arrangements of PCIe slots, connectors and switches on the motherboards of desktop and notebook PCs – as well as servers. The TC7PCI3412MT and TC7PCI3415MT can also be used for high-speed differential lines, including: USB 3.0, DisplayPort 1.2 and SATA 3.0.

Features include:

  • Operating power-supply voltage: VCC=3.0V to 3.6V
  • Wide -3dB Bandwidth: 10GHz(typ.) @VCC=3.3V
  • Low insertion loss: IL=-1dB @VCC=3.3V, f=4GHz
  • Low switch terminal ON-capacitance: CI/O=1.5pF(typ.) @VCC=3.3V
  • Industry standard packaging: TQFN42

According to Talayeh Saderi, business development manager for TAEC, "Our new two-lane SPDT switches have a frequency of 10GHz at -3dB, while many other similar products offer 8GHz at -3dB. Capable of handling up to two PCIe lanes in a given PCIe application, these new switches are ideally suited for circuit design engineers working with third generation PCIe."
