A Korea Government Agency to Operate Korean Pavilion at Siggraph 2013

SEOUL, South Korea — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 18, 2013 — Korea Creative Contents Agency (KOCCA)(President Hong Sang-pyo) will present technologies of 5 domestic firms to foreign investors and also organize 'Networking Night' for international exchanges, at the Korean Pavilion at Siggraph 2013, the world's largest culture technologies(CT) exhibition, held in Anaheim, California in the US, for five days from July 21.

Presented at the pavilion are the technologies of Core E&T, VF Lab, TOC Creative, Global School of Media of Soongsil University and Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI). They will showcase diverse technologies including the VFX pipeline management solution, the real-time mobile CGI animation production process and the augmented reality-based learning system.

More notably, foreign companies participating in the event will have an opportunity to learn about Korean technologies. Domestic participants have contacted members of foreign participants including 17 firms participating in the exhibition presented by the Canadian Pavilion in advance and arranged appointments. Domestic participants will meet members from foreign firms during the event according to the schedule.

In addition, the Korean expert group of VFX Studio in Hollywood (consisting of members from DreamWorks, Infinity Ward, Sony Imageworks, Lucas Film, etc.) and members from foreign participants will be invited to the Korea Networking Night, which will be a venue for networking with domestic firms for joint production of contents.

President Sang-Pyo Hong of KOCCA said, "In order to facilitate growth of R&D in the CT sector of Korea, technological excellence should be secured and active overseas market entries with the technologies should be made. I will further reinforce support to increase overseas business opportunities of domestic CT firms."

KOCCA has supported domestic companies' participation in the event by operating the Pavilion of Korean CT since 2012. In 2012, six domestic organizations including Digital Clothing Center of Seoul National University, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Sigong Tech, FXGear and Kinomotive participated in the event, having a total of 570 consulting meetings and making export deals exceeding USD 3.5 million.
