New Integration Coupling modeFRONTIER with STAR-CCM+ Announced

March 15, 2013 -- STAR-CCM+ users are now able to take advantage of modeFRONTIER optimization and automation capabilities owing to the new integration with CD-adapco’s Optimate add-on, ESTECO SpA announced today. The company, a global leader in numerical optimization technologies, will present an application case showcasing this newly released integration feature at the STAR Global Conference 2013 in Orlando (FL), on March 19th.

modeFRONTIER is one of the most widely used process integration and design optimization tools within manufacturing design. Engineers performing CFD analyses can now run STAR-CCM+ simulations within this versatile collaborative environment, leveraging the wide range of advanced features provided by the platform to pinpoint the best possible design.

The integration node for Optimate allows input and output parameters, defined by the user in the STAR-CCM+ model, to be exposed, and automatically creates a modeFRONTIER workflow, leaving only objectives and constraints to be set within modeFRONTIER’s powerful workflow editor. This open platform enables designers to integrate STAR-CCM+ in complex multi-disciplinary projects involving CAD and other CAE tools, and to take advantage of a full collection of sophisticated algorithms (from gradient-based to genetic) to define optimization strategies. In addition, having access to modeFRONTIER Response Surface Methodologies allows design cycle times to be drastically reduced in projects requiring significant computational time

The advantages of this new integration are highlighted in the case study titled Multi-Objective Optimization of a Boomerang Shape using modeFRONTIER & STAR-CCM+, to be presented on March 19th at the STAR Global Conference 2013 in Orlando (FL).
