Geomagic and Xisis to demonstrate the latest developments in 3D Scan, Design and Manufacture at TCT Live 2012

Software demonstrations to show how 3D imaging, inspection and integration with SpaceClaim helped engineer the Atlantic Glider Transatlantic project

Morrisville, N.C., USA. 11 September, 2012 – Geomagic®, a global company providing 3D technology for digital reality, and Xisis, a UK reseller specializing in CAD tools for engineers, are joining forces at TCT Live 2012 Conference and Exhibition, to be held at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham, 25 & 26 September. During the event both companies will showcase the latest developments in 3D imaging/reverse engineering software for product design and rapid manufacturing, surface and direct modeling software and 3D inspection and metrology software.

Demonstrations on the show floor will feature Geomagic Studio® 2012, the latest version of the company’s market-leading software for converting 3D scan and probe data into immediately usable parametric CAD data for the leading 3D CAD systems; and Geomagic Qualify™ 2012 that uses cutting-edge technology to deliver user-friendly 3D inspection software with precision, speed and comprehensive reporting on the quality of as-built parts for first-article and production inspection, as well as supplier management. Scanning using technology from partners FARO and Surphaser will be featured as part of the workflow demonstration.

In addition, visitors will be able to see the seamless integration between Geomagic Studio and SpaceClaim®, the world’s fastest and most innovative 3D direct modeling software. Both software platforms have been used in the development and engineering of the Atlantic Glider Transatlantic Challenge vessel.

“Geomagic’s ‘Go To SpaceClaim’ button means that scan data can be easily and quickly reused in the industry’s leading direct modeling software,” said Steve Evans, general manager, Xisis. “This integration delivers the type of productivity improvements that the industry has not seen in years allowing scan data to be easily and quickly reused in CAD.”

Richard George, general manager of Atlantic Glider commented, “The Atlantic Glider Transatlantic Challenge project is not just about beating records, it is about innovation and advancing marine technology to a point where it aligns itself with modern engineering processes. In order to demonstrate that our products are super efficient, we need great tools. We need to minimize risk of failure at each stage of development and by using Geomagic andSpaceClaim software, and by having local support from Xisis, we are confident that our ability to manufacture accurate, fast, stable and fuel-efficient vessels is enhanced. The by-product of such efficiency will also be a significant reduction in our carbon footprint -- a key focus of our business.”

Geomagic and Xisis will be demonstrating at booth number T30, in the NEC, Birmingham UK.

Geomagic is pleased to recognize a host of other partners participating in the TCT Live 2012 exhibition, including FARO, Hexagon, EMCo Education, Europac Metrology, Central Scanning, Solutionix, CDG, Wenzel UK, Measurement Solutions, Nikon Metrology UK, Steinbichler UK, and Physical Digital.
