Students of the University of Zagreb will use AxSTREAM to learn about the fundamental principles of Turbomachinery Design and Optimization

Burlington, MA – March 3rd, 2012: the University of Zagreb, the biggest Croatian University and the oldest continuously operating university in the South East Europe, has adopted AxSTREAM for teaching and research in the field of Axial Turbine Design. The University and SoftInWay Inc. signed a software license agreement to incorporate the Educational Version of AxSTREAM (AEV) into the university curriculum. The students will have an opportunity to use the Turbomachinery Design Software AxSTREAM for their final year projects to design flow path of small Axial Gas Turbines and get a better and real-life understanding of the basic fundamentals of Axial Turbines design and optimization.

AxSTREAM Educational Version is meant for design, analysis, multidisciplinary optimization and retrofitting of axial, radial, counter-rotating and mixed flow configurations of the flow path. It consists of modules for preliminary design, 1D/2D analysis, flow path multidisciplinary optimization, airfoil profiling, 3D blade stacking and 3D FEA/CFD analysis.

For several years now, this “gold standard” turbomachinery design and optimization software has been helping students to learn theoretical basis, explore the main steps of real flow path design process and gain practical skills of designing.

In addition to being chosen by the University of Zagreb, AxSTREAM Educational Version is successfully used by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Moscow Aviation Institute (Russia), Pennsylvania State University (USA), Tsinghua University (China), Namik Kemal University (Turkey), Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (Ukraine) and many other schools worldwide.

AxSTREAM version for academia is available for axial / radial turbines and compressors, and can be ordered via http://www.softinway.com/education/axstream-educational-version.asp.

“We hope that AxSTREAM will help our students to understand more clearly the energy conversion process in axial turbines. We will also apply AxSTREAM in our research group to study the influence of basic geometric parameters of turbine stages on turbine performance.” - shared his plans on working with AxSTREAM,  Dr. Zeljko Tukovic, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FSB), University of Zagreb.

“This is a great honor for us to declare our partnership with such a reputable university as the University of Zagreb in Croatia. We hope that AEV will help to enrich the teaching process and prepare the future engineers to work in rapidly campaign progressing turbomachinery industry.” - concluded Valentine Moroz, Chief Operating Officer of SoftInWay Inc.

About the University of Zagreb
