February 27, 2012 – New York, NY -- In response to the early feedback from the Facility GIS user community, PenBay Solutions LLC announced today the release of version 2.5 of its Building Navigator widget. Initially released in December 2011, the Building Navigator widget allows users to click on a building footprint and drill down inside the building to view floors, spaces, and other data layers. In addition to supporting floor by floor navigation, this widget can be configured to show different types of floor plans such as vector information from CAD, raster images like an Emergency Action Plans, and other ArcGIS Server map services for things like assets or personnel.

This new release contains a number of functional and user interface enhancements to the previous base widget, many of which were requests from early adopters to help support their unique implementations. In addition, to keep up with the demand from an increasingly diverse user base this version includes a number of compatibility updates for ArcGIS Server 9.3.1, as well as the Esri Flex SDK 2.5 (ArcGIS Viewer for Flex 2.5).

PenBay also confirmed that it will continue to make this widget freely available to support the global GIS community in taking their first steps in to the Facility GIS realm.  “It’s been really interesting to see how people are using it to extend GIS inside buildings” said Ben Yetman, Director at PenBay, “So far it has been a pretty even split between people using it for Emergency Plan access and Facility Management functions”.
