Keynote DeviceAnywhere™ Helps TomTom Monitor Performance on the Road

Keynote DeviceAnywhere Test Center Enterprise Monitoring allows TomTom to monitor the performance of its LIVE services in real-time

SAN MATEO, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 17, 2011Keynote DeviceAnywhere™ , the global leader in mobile application lifecycle management (mobile ALM), today announced that TomTom, the world’s largest provider of in-car location and navigation products and services, has deployed its Test Center Enterprise Monitoring™ (TCE Monitoring) solution to provide real-time performance monitoring for its location and navigation products and services. The TCE Monitoring solution is used by TomTom to evaluate the performance and responsiveness of its LIVE services in France for its largest automotive customer.

TomTom’s service operations team required a solution that would allow them to remotely monitor the performance of their devices and connected services, such as HD traffic and local weather, in real-time and in real-world conditions.

TomTom selected Keynote DeviceAnywhere TCE Monitoring, a cloud-based, enterprise-grade monitoring solution, to provide remote access to TomTom devices, including its latest generation devices and the iPhone 4, connected to a live mobile network in France. Housed in a data center in Paris, Keynote DeviceAnywhere worked with TomTom to create a customized environment which provides GPS connectivity to support additional functionality and performance monitoring scenarios.

With TCE Monitoring, TomTom’s operations team can receive real-time alerts about software, hardware and network issues that could affect the end-user experience. Alerts are pre-defined and therefore require no additional involvement from the TomTom team allowing them to focus on developing the next-generation of features and services.

Ian Hammond, VP of Technical Operations at TomTom said: “Our customers rely on our products and services to get them to their destinations faster and help them be more relaxed along the way. Any disruption in service can have a major impact on that experience and so we are dedicated to ensuring that we proactively identify and solve problems before they impact our customers. This solution has allowed us to not only deliver a better end-user experience, but has also been used as an additional unique selling point for some of our largest automotive clients.

Faraz Syed, CEO of Keynote DeviceAnywhere said: “We’re excited that TomTom has embraced our TCE Monitoring solution as a strategic platform for their core in-house technical support team. In the connected world, performance and quality of service is everything and it can have a substantial impact on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and revenues. TomTom is demonstrating how companies need to take a proactive approach to monitoring, using it as a strategic asset that is core to agreements with some of their biggest clients.”

Following this successful initial implementation, TomTom is now looking to extend the service to additional geographies to support the expanded availability of their LIVE Services.
