In August 2000, a man was murdered during an attempted robbery at his home on the west side of
Charlotte, North Carolina. Witnesses described the clothing of the suspected robbers, and the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department later arrested several suspects. However, questions continued about who actually killed the victim. While the witnesses identified the shooter by his clothing, the suspects disputed who was
wearing which clothing. Prosecutors needed
to identify the triggerman to correctly charge
the perpetrators.
