TDK releases the most compact safety class S2 motor-run capacitors

January 24, 2022

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) presents its new B33331I6* series, compact EPCOS motor-run capacitors that comply with safety class S2 as well as the IEC 60335-2-24 standard, that will come onto the market in September 2023. The robust aluminum cans have extremely compact dimensions, making the series now the most compact motor-run capacitors on the market. Depending on the capacitance, the diameters are only 30 mm or 35 mm, and the heights vary between 73 mm and 103 mm including the connections. They are designed for a voltage of 450 V AC at 50/60 Hz, and, with 13 types, cover a capacitance range from 1 µF to 20 µF.

The self-healing resin-filled capacitors are equipped with an internal overpressure breakaway protection and are designed for a lifetime of 10,000 hours at 450 V AC. Standard connections are 2+2 fast-on connectors (6.3 mm x 0.8 mm) and can be modified to customer specifications. Versions with an M8 bolt at the bottom of the housing are also available. All types have approvals according to UL and VDE and carry the CE mark.

Typical applications of these motor run capacitors are compressor motors of refrigerators and freezers and pumps in industrial applications.
