2D Animation Using Toon Boom Harmony

Capilano University is a world-leader in animation, gaming, TV, and motion picture studies. Housing enviable studios and state-of-the art equipment for shooting, digital production, costuming, editing, and screening, it attracts knowledgeable and experienced talent who are enthusiastic about sharing their love of the industry and their know-how with up-and-coming industry practitioners.

Capilano University Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, in coordination with CapU Continuing Studies, is offering two brand-new microcredentials aimed at working professionals with some experience in digital production for the entertainment industry.

Both microcredentials are offered in a part-time format to meet the needs of full-time workers.

Virtual Production (Unreal Engine) targets 3D or Visual Effects artists with two to five years’ experience working in streaming, animation, film, or games, with robust training on using Unreal Engine in a multitude of ways—from asset building through lighting and character integration. This credential aligns with the digital industry call for skilled artists capable of working within virtual production workflows. Four courses are offered in this program at $520 (+ gst) each. 2D Animation using Harmony responds to the current shortage of Harmony-trained animators and focuses on enhancing the expertise of animators to use Toon Boom Harmony to take their animations to the next level when building and enlivening their creations. Participants will come away with a demo reel sequence created in Harmony. Two courses are offered in this program at $998 (+ gst) each. Both microcredentials are led by seasoned industry professionals and funded to be affordable—in fact, for under-represented groups (e.g. women, indigenous peoples, those with disabilities, visible minorities, and LGBTA+2s, etc.) there is an application process for a 50% discount in tuition.
