CartoVista’s Interactive Mapping Showcases the Latest Statistics Canada Age and Sex Demographics

June 27, 2012 -- DBx GEOMATICS is proud to announce an update to its innovative on-line publication of the latest Canadian census data. This update includes the latest data released by Statistics Canada regarding the

Canadian population’s age and sex distribution. The interactive map is available at http://www.cartovista.com/2011CanadianPopulation.aspx?language=en. The information is presented for each of the census subdivisions in Canada.

According to data from Canada’s 2011 census, seniors accounted for 14.8% of the population in 2011, up from 13.7% in 2006. DBx GEOMATICS’s online-map now features additional indicators by age group.
This allows the user to analyze these demographic changes geographically while obtaining a better understanding of Canada’s aging population.

The population has also been classified into three distinct groups: Children & Youth, Workforce and Seniors. The thematic analysis capabilities of CartoVista allow these groups to be displayed proportionately on the map.

The user is also able to easily alter the thematic settings, such as the color palette or the graduated symbols style, which will immediately update the map. Each indicator can also be displayed as an interactive chart or data table that is linked with the map. This allows the user to present exactly the information they are interested in displaying, customized to their tastes.

In summary, CartoVista offers a simple and effective environment to publish and analyze demographic datasets of interest for responsible management of land and social issues. DBx GEOMATICS plans to
continue to update its online service as more demographic data becomes available from Statistics Canada.
