To support their commitment to providing excellence in everything that they do, iXSurvey has recently purchased LizardTech’s GeoExpress software.

iXSurvey acquires hydrographic and geophysical data which is crucial for both offshore and coastal engineering projects. This work involves the creation of a huge amount of raster data and the large file sizes of these datasets can make them difficult to store and use. GeoExpress is now being used to convert their raster images to MrSID, an industry standard compression format and one that is natively read by nearly all geo-based software.

LizardTech has recently released the latest version of their flagship image compression and preparation software; GeoExpress 8. This new product introduces a new version of the MrSID format; MG4 which not only allows users to compress a huge range of raster formats to the industry standard compression format but also LiDAR data clouds can now be compressed.
