Meridian Systems Releases Proliance 5.5 Software

New Bidding/Tendering Module and Multi-language Support Provide a Complete Solution for Owners and Project Managers

FOLSOM, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 2, 2012 — Meridian Systems, a Trimble Company, today announced the availability of Proliance® version 5.5, the latest upgrade to the company’s capital program management software. Proliance 5.5 includes a new Bidding/Tendering Module for greater visibility and control into project procurement and provides new International features, including localized portfolio management and multi- language and calendar capabilities. Together, these capabilities help owners and program managers efficiently plan, build and manage capital programs and assets to reduce risk, lower cost and improve financial performance.

“Large-scale global engineering and construction projects are extremely complex with stringent requirements that cross cultures and languages,” said Matt Light, research vice president at Gartner. “Project owners can benefit from integrated project portfolio management environments that deliver accurate visibility and insight into program scope, cost and schedule to ensure efficient process controls.”

Proliance uniquely combines capital planning, project and program management, business process management and analytics into one system of record, enabling asset owners and managers to track how their real estate, construction and facilities portfolios are performing across the plan-build-operate lifecycle.

Bidding and Tendering Module Improves Project Procurement

Proliance 5.5 further improves program management capabilities through the addition of a new Bidding/Tendering Module that provides owners and program managers with the ability to confidently execute a bid process that follows industry best practices. The new module provides bid creation, distribution and award capabilities which can address security, completeness and consistency in the procurement of construction contracts.

In addition, the optional bid analysis component leverages WinEstimator’s ModelogixTM software, which was recently acquired by Trimble to extend Meridian’s solutions. This unique software enables bids to be viewed and analyzed side-by-side so that costs and potential anomalies can be compared amongst the various bids received.

“With a new emphasis on efficiency, owners who wish to remain competitive are recognizing the value of information in controlling and influencing project outcomes to produce the desired results,” said Rick Gehringer, business unit director at Meridian Systems. “Proliance 5.5 includes new capabilities and enhancements to deliver broader and deeper program management functionality to better align with each owner’s specific portfolio structures and operating models.”

Global-Language Support Improves Collaboration

Expanding on the software’s existing multi-currency capabilities, Proliance 5.5 now adds the ability to support multiple language files. Proliance 5.5 includes an Arabic language file and can be translated into other languages by customer request. It also includes a localized Hijri (Umm Al-Qura) calendar to address the immediate needs of its customers doing business in the Middle East. These new features give owners and project managers the ability to localize individual projects within a larger program in multiple languages, which provides an excellent solution for global companies working in multiple regions.

Proliance 5.5 also includes application administration improvements to enhance user experience and streamline collaboration between owners and project teams.
