Timmons Group’s VizOps Software Selected by Southside Virginia Training Center for Emergency Management

Richmond, Va. – November 29, 2011 – Timmons Group, a leader in geospatial consulting and application development, was recently selected by law enforcement officials at the Southside Virginia Training Center (SVTC) for the development of the Center’s emergency management application.   The Center is working with Timmons Group to develop a pilot project which will produce SENTINEL, a situational awareness web viewer that allows staff to view local computer aided dispatch (CAD) calls in context with other state and federal data feeds.  The SENTINEL application will be built on the Timmons Group VizOp’s framework for emergency management situational awareness.

The new SENTINEL application will provide a common operating landscape for the SVTC Police Department, as well as extend functionality beyond the traditional EOC operations to target law enforcement needs.  When complete, the application will integrate local systems deemed critical to SVTC operations including incident based reporting from local Computer Aided Dispatch, WebEOC data from the Virginia Emergency Operations Center, weather feeds from the National Weather Service, local campus base maps and traffic information from the Virginia Department of Transportation.  The application will also implement a “report by exception” feature, which will use geoprocessing tasks to filter data according to the limits set by SVTC, showing only information that is critical (and within a defined proximity) to each incident.

The application will be deployed on ArcGIS Server 10.  Along with allowing real-time geoprocessing tasks, ArcGIS 10 provides the Training Center with access to the latest Esri base maps for a complete situational picture.
